The plans of four companies to establish ginger processing facilities in Mizoram have been approved by the government, according to an official. The Empowered Committee on Investment met under the direction of Chief Minister Lalduhoma and made the decision. Opickpure Organic Pvt. Ltd. (Himachal Pradesh), Sjar Consulting Private Limited (Uttar Pradesh), AV Biotech (Rajasthan), and local business Lushai Organic are among the licensed businesses. This action follows the state government’s recent designation of ginger as Mizoram’s flagship crop, which aims to increase farmer incomes and encourage value addition. Over 200 jobs might be created by the ₹38 crore investment that Noida-based Sjar Consulting Pvt. Ltd. has proposed, the official said.
While local company Lushai Organic has pledged ₹1 crore and hopes to hire 20 people, Bikaner-based AV Biotech has proposed an investment of ₹13.95 crore that might create about 100 jobs. To expedite final approvals and finish the required formalities, a special investment committee has been established. The committee will also create the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and communicate with the corporations on problems pertaining to land, power, and water requirements. According to officials, this project is a calculated attempt to establish Mizoram as a major regional player in the processing of ginger, promoting industrial development and boosting the local agrarian economy.
