Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma claimed that a “divine transformation” is underway in the state as many foundations and aspirations they wandered for a while during the previous governments have now come to fruition under the current Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) administration.

Addressing ZPM party function in Aizawl, Lalduhoma cited massive breakthroughs in pension settlements, central funding, and grassroots development as evidence of the ZPM administration’s successful governance.

He said that the achievements were not merely political victories but the fulfillment of a vision for the ZPM’s ‘new system of governance’

Highlighting a surge in administrative efficiency, the Chief Minister claimed that the present government since it assumed power in December 2023 has disbursed Rs. 258.92 crore in General Provident Fund (GPF) payments.

“The previous government settled only 974 pensions during its tenure. Since we took office, we have cleared over 24,000 pending pensions,” he said.

Lalduhoma noted that while Mizoram was once ranked as one of India’s most indebted states, the ZPM’s prudent financial management has earned confidence from New Delhi.

The state recently secured Rs. 350 crore from the Central Government and has also been the 5th highest recipient in the projected allocations by the 16th Finance Commission over the next five years, he said.

The Chief Minister said the government also gives priority to development of rural villages.

He said while the MNF government withdrew only the first installment of rural local body (RLB) grant for village councils amounting Rs. 34.5 crore for the 2021-22 fiscal, the ZPM government has secured Rs. 362 crore, including the second installment of 2021-22 grant, for the period up to the current financial year.

Lalduhoma also accused the current MNF led Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) of negligence that nearly resulted in the loss of crucial urban body grants.

He said the ZPM government prevented Rs. 28.76 crore grants from lapsing due to timely intervention.
