Mizoram Government Secretary Amit Sharma conducted a day-long visit to Siaha, focusing on digital governance and economic development through tourism.During his visit, Sharma held a series of in-depth meetings with district officials to assess both infrastructure and administrative performance. He was accompanied by H. Vanhlupuia, Deputy Registrar of the Cooperation Department, Lalengzuala, Informatics Officer (ICT), and Lalmuanawma, Database Administrator at MEeGS. The team met with department heads to discuss achievements, work plans, and ongoing challenges in the southern Mizoram district.

Chairing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abraham Beirazi Khithie briefed the Secretary on Siaha’s strengths and development hurdles, highlighting its potential for economic advancement, particularly through tourism. Amit Sharma praised the work culture during his surprise inspection of the lone district hospital, encouraging other departments to adopt similar commitment. Stressing the need for rapid digital transformation, he emphasized the rollout of e-Office systems, aiming to make government operations—from state departments to block-level offices—fully paperless.

“In this digital era, paperless administration is not just an option but a necessity,” Sharma noted. “We’re committed to implementing e-Governance standards across Mizoram for efficient, transparent, and accessible public services.” In addition to technology, Sharma also stressed the untapped potential of the district’s scenic beauty. He called for greater collaboration in developing tourism infrastructure and promoting Siaha as a travel destination, with an eye on sustainable revenue generation and poverty reduction.
