Angela Lusigi, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India, held a meeting with Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma in Aizawl on Tuesday. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for UNDP’s various initiatives in the state and encouraged further expansion of the organization’s engagement. He thanked UNDP for its ongoing support, acknowledging that three districts of Mizoram have been recognized as top performers in the NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Index Report. The Chief Minister also highlighted Mizoram’s reputation as a peaceful state with low corruption rates and outlined the State Government’s ambition to enable Mizoram to contribute one percent to India’s GDP by 2047, urging UNDP to enhance its initiatives to help achieve this goal.

In response, Angela Lusigi expressed her appreciation for Mizoram’s pleasant environment and acknowledged the significant progress made in the region over recent years. She presented UNDP’s initiatives and priority areas to the Chief Minister and sought information regarding the State Government’s key priority sectors. The Chief Minister was accompanied by several officials, including TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister; Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister; and Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary of the Planning Department.
