Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma said nothing improper about his son seeking a loan under the government’s Unnati Scheme, stating that the process is open and transparent to all eligible applicants.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while taking part in a discussion on a private resolution titled ‘ZPM Sokarin Mizoram tana a hnathawhte hi a lawmawm kan ti’, moved by Champhai North MLA H. Ginzalala.

Pu Lalduhoma explained that the Unnati Scheme includes provisions for interest to be charged on withdrawals from the total sanctioned amount. He said applicants have the flexibility to discontinue the loan facility at any time if they wish. Additionally, beneficiaries may increase the loan amount if required, in accordance with the framework of the scheme.

The Chief Minister also clarified matters relating to his private residence at Chawlhmun, stating that construction of the house began before the election. He maintained that the project would have proceeded irrespective of whether he had been elected as an MLA.
