Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will convene again under the chairmanship of the Speaker to further deliberate on matters related to the forthcoming Mizoram Legislative Assembly Budget Session.

A BAC meeting on Assembly procedures was held today under the chairmanship of Speaker Pu Lalbiakzama, during which most of the programme for the Budget Session was drawn up. It was decided that Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma will present the Mizoram Budget for the third time, although the exact date for the Budget presentation is yet to be finalised.

The meeting also proposed that the Budget Session conclude on 12 March, a matter that will be taken up again for further discussion. According to the tentative schedule, the Assembly will commence on 17 February at 10.00 am, with Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh delivering the inaugural address on the first day. The Governor’s speech will outline the government’s initiatives and proposed plans. Following the address, a motion of thanks will be introduced and discussed on 18 February.

Meanwhile, a total of five Amendment Bills have been submitted so far. The Assembly Secretariat has also received 749 starred questions and 287 unstarred questions for the session. Officials of the Assembly Secretariat stated that there is no programme scheduled for paying homage during the sixth sitting of the Ninth Mizoram Legislative Assembly.
