In a creative initiative to spread awareness against substance abuse among children and youth, an Easter Egg Painting Competition based on the ‘Ruihhlo Do’ (Anti-Drug Campaign) theme will be organised for churches within the Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) area on April 5 on Easter Sunday.
The programme is being organised by the District Level Committee on NCORD (Narco Coordination Committee), Lunglei district, in collaboration with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. All major Christian denominations within the LMC area are expected to participate in the event.
As part of the competition, participants will paint Easter eggs reflecting the anti-drug theme and design placards carrying meaningful slogans promoting a drug-free society. Each church will conduct the activity according to its own schedule on Easter Sunday and submit photographs of the entries along with the names of participants for evaluation.
The competition will be judged on April 6 based on the submitted photographs. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners, and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on April 8.
The Lunglei Deputy Commissioner’s office has appealed to all eligible participants—especially children and youth church members—to actively take part in the competition. The initiative aims not only to celebrate the spirit of Easter through creativity but also to reinforce the message of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Participants are encouraged to showcase their talents and contribute towards building a stronger, safer and drug-free Lunglei, an official statement said.
