
By 2027, all northeastern states would have air and rail connections to Delhi, according to a statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. Shah was the principal guest at the Assam Rifles’ ‘Unity Utsav – One Voice, One Nation’ event in New Delhi, where this pledge was made. Shah emphasized in his speech the significance of unification for the northeastern region, which he claimed had historically been cut off from the nation’s capital. He gave credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fostering a sense of unity and connectivity between the Northeast and the rest of India.
Shah emphasized that the Modi administration had boosted its budgetary allocations for the region by three to four times. He emphasized how young people have enormous potential in a variety of fields, such as technology, sports, entertainment, and economics. The Northeast’s great cultural diversity was also praised by the Home Minister, who mentioned more than 220 ethnic groups, 200 languages, and several festivals and cuisines. He reiterated that the area’s legacy is a national treasure.
212 teams and 1,500 students participated in sporting events during the five-day Unity Utsav, which showcased the Northeast’s cultural strength. Manipur won the majority of the prizes. Shah revealed plans to establish the first sports university in India in Manipur, demonstrating the region’s enthusiasm in advancing sports. Shah urged young people involved in violence to embrace peace and development, pointing to significant advancements in law and order in the Northeast, including a 70% drop in violent occurrences.
