An explosion at an army arsenal in Indonesia caused panic. Locals claim that there have been several strong explosions. According to army sources, the explosion took place at around 6:30 p.m. local time at the arsenal, a few kilometers away from the capital Jakarta.
However, it was initially known that no one was killed or injured in this incident. But the locals claim that there is a fear somewhere. They claimed that the intensity of the explosion was so strong that several kilometers were shaken. A ball of fire was seen rising in the sky. The area around the armory was covered in black smoke. Locals said that at first they thought there was an earthquake. Several houses in the area near the armory were also reported damaged.
Army officer Mohammad Hasan said that no one was injured in the incident. After the explosion, the armory caught fire. The work of extinguishing the fire continues throughout the night. The fire was brought under control around 4:30 a.m. local time on Sunday. Hasan also said that it is believed that several expired rounds of ammunition were stored in the armory. They’ve exploded somehow. However, the real cause of the explosion is being investigated.
According to army sources, the area around the armory was quickly evacuated after the explosion. Residents were evacuated to safe locations. Local residents have been warned not to go near the arsenal.
