
A dog’s pre-emptive instinct saved 60 lives in Mandi’s Siyathi village during monsoon fury on June 30.
Numerous properties, including 1,184 homes, were severely damaged, and the catastrophe also claimed the lives of 780 animals.
A villager recalled that during the night, when it was pouring severely, a pet dog that was sleeping on the second floor of a multi-story house began to bark and scream loudly.
When Narender, the dog’s owner, went to check on him after being awakened by the barking, he discovered a large break in the house’s wall where water was leaking.Narender immediately sounded an alarm, alerting the nearby residents. A landslip quickly reduced the town to ruins after more than 60 residents fled for their lives, leaving everything behind, according to the villager.
Nadda visits disaster-hit Mandi
After seeing the regions devastated by landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts, BJP president J.P. Nadda declared that the Union government would do everything in its power to help and rebuild the people of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.Along with state BJP president Rajiv Bindal and former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, Mr. Nadda travelled to Mandi.
Union Health Minister Mr. Nadda declared, “The Central government is committed to providing relief to every affected person,” and he gave the relevant officers instructions to make sure that relief and rehabilitation efforts were carried out without slack.
Central government supports Himachal Pradesh during disaster, providing assistance of ₹3,146 crore, ₹2,006 crore, and over 1 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana and PM Gramin Sadak Yojana.
